Profile

Lynda Shanahan is both an educator and parent in the field of special education. As a teacher with 20 years experience has worked with students with disabilities in various domains. She earned a BA at Glassboro State College (Rowan University) in Speech/Theater/Dance-Music Minor and later became state certified K-8 Elementary Education, and a BA in English at Thomas Edison State College and became certified in grades 7-12 English. She received her Master's of Education at Monmouth University majoring in Special Education/Autism and Post Graduate Certificate at Seton Hall in Transition Studies. As a parent, graduated class of 2019 Partners in Policymaking and sat on the NJ State Special Education Advisory Council for two terms working with the Transition Sub Committee. Further advocacy efforts has been to promote current evidence based practices in the field of transition and person centered planning to families, self advocates, and professionals in the field .
