New Jersey Health Insurance Fund
The New Jersey Health Insurance Fund (known as the "hi" fund) is the largest collection of non-state operated public entity insurance pools in the nation -- and growing.
The "hi" family of Funds includes nine individual health insurance funds (HIF) and one insurance commission that offer quality, customizable employee health benefits coverage for schools, municipalities, authorities and other public entities throughout the state. The "hi" funds, powered by PERMA, offer proven long-term rate stability, reliability and savings for members.
The Schools Health Insurance Fund, one of the "hi" family of funds, welcomed the 103rd school district into the fund which covers 42,000 lives with a $47 million annual budget. A total of 129 school districts and boards of education are currently members across all the "hi" funds.
The New Jersey Health Insurance Fund has grown to serve 267 public entities – an estimated 21% of NJ market share. The Funds have an annual collective budget of $843 million and a $200 million surplus. Since 1992, more than $303 million in dividends have been distributed to our members.
