M&E Engineers (M&E) is widely known as the “Greenest” and most energy-focused engineering firm in the State of NJ.  M&E has been promoting sustainability and energy efficiency projects since the early 1980’s, long before the recent trend in popularity.  As a standard business practice M&E Engineers strongly considers sustainable design concepts that increase building performance.  During a project, we consider all factors that will create healthier, more efficient buildings, which minimize impact on the environment.  These factors include meeting and exceeding minimum energy and ventilation requirements.  These standards are implemented, if possible, on all projects, regardless if the building is aiming for LEED or other high performance certification.  We make buildings safer, healthier, more reliable and more efficient.

Throughout its 35+ year history, a core company focus for M&E has been energy efficiency, including Commissioning, Energy Audits, and Energy Modeling.  We help our clients reduce their energy and operating expenses by eliminating energy waste in the building design, in the mechanical and electrical systems, and in the operation and maintenance of their facilities.  We identify opportunities for energy reduction and provide economic justification to demonstrate the ROI on proposed upgrades.

M&E has been commissioning mechanical and electrical systems for over 30 years.  Testing systems to ensure their proper operation is part of our DNA and we are adept at reviewing design documents to ensure the systems can be verified, and will operate as intended.  Our team includes experts in mechanical engineering and electrical engineering, as well as in the ASHRAE commissioning & energy auditing processes.

Too many buildings, and their occupants, suffer needlessly from poorly performing mechanical and electrical systems.  Proper Ventilation and Indoor Air Quality are essential to good health.  As much as 15% of the energy used in these buildings is wasted due to systems that are not operating as they should.  Proper and thorough commissioning of the building systems identifies these problems.  Their correction makes the building safer, more pleasant, and more economical to operate. This is particularly important for the renovation of existing spaces, especially when space usage type and/or occupancies rates change.
